Frequently Asked Questions

We’re happy to answer any further questions you may have, don’t hesitate to get in touch

  • What should we wear?

We run the playgroup entirely outside and in all weathers (except for high winds - we will always contact you if this is the case). Having the right clothing will ensure that you and your children stay comfortable and you both get the most out of the session.

Warm, Waterproof clothing, and footwear are recommended. Having layers that can be added or removed is helpful. It’s always better to have too many layers and remove some than be chilly.

If it is sunny then bring hats and suncream. You might find it helpful to apply suncream and insect repellent before you come to the session. Whatever the weather, we always recommend that participants wear sturdy, closed toed shoes and cover arms and legs to help stop bites, scratches and stings.

  • Where do the sessions take place?

Our sessions are run in the stunning grounds of Vinehall School, Robertsbridge, TN32 5JL.

  • What about parking?

As you drive up the driveway to Vinehall School you will see a mini-roundabout. Take a right at the roundabout towards the pre-prep. Immediately after you have turned right, and before you actually reach the pre-prep car park, you will see another track on your right. Take that track - it leads you down the side of the field towards the tennis courts. You can park there.

Someone will be there to meet you at 9:40 and guide you down to our site.

  • Will there be toilets at the site?

There are some toilets that we can occasionally use in the case of emergency, but they are quite a walk from our site. For longer sessions, or for sessions where participants may have toileting needs we provide a camping toilet and privacy tent.

We bring along basic hand washing facilities to the site.

  • What happens in bad weather?

Our sessions take place whatever the weather. We put up tarpaulin, make shelters, light a fire and have hot drinks to help mitigate this, but we love jumping in muddy puddles and wrapping up warm.

We encourage you to make sure your child has the right clothing to keep them warm and comfortable.

We only close our sessions in the case of extreme weather, such as high winds, or where weather is so bad that roads have been closed.

When possible we relocate our session to a safe, outdoor spot, such as the open-air pavillion.

  • What constitutes extreme weather?

We only close our sessions in extreme weather. This means when weather warnings have been issues by the met office, or winds are so high that it poses a risk to safety due to falling trees.

Should a session be cancelled then we will contact you via the email that you booked with to notify you. Please read our ‘terms and conditions’ for further information.

  • What refreshments do you provide and can you meet dietary requirements?

Each session we aim to provide hot drinks for the grown ups, and snacks for the children / participants. This could be anything from toasted marshmallows, or popcorn, to breadsticks or pancakes, depending on what week it is.

If you or your child/ren have allergies or dietary requirements please let us know on the booking form - we will always try and meet your needs wherever possible.

Whether you have dietary requirements or not, you are always very welcome to bring along your own drinks and snacks - but nothing containing nuts please!
